Hard To Scrap

Have you ever looked at a photograph of such a happy moment that isn't so happy anymore
and wondered whether you should scrap it or not?
Well here is your answer.
I captured this moment perfectly of her
as she read an email and got the news she had been waiting for.
We were sitting on La Rambla in Barcelona at the time and she managed to log into some free wifi
to check her emails - and there it was - she was through to the last round
to join an apprenticeship scheme with the Fire Service.
That smiled beamed all day!
So why wouldn't I want to scrap it?
Well two weeks later, she got the news that she hadn't made the very final 12
and she was devastated - we all were
which made scrapping this picture all the more difficult
BUT
we have to scrap the good AND the bad
to tell our story, don't we?

This layout was created using my August Counterfeit Kit.

I would love to know what has been the hardest photograph that you have scrapped
let me know in the comments.

Perdido en Barcelona?

CHALLENGE THREE
is up over at the Counterfeit Kit Blog.

The challenge - Sounds Foreign to Me! - in honour of our German inspiration kit,
is to be inspired by foreign words on your project.

Do you remember those Spanish words I cut using my machine?
Here's a reminder...
Well here they are on my layout...
...which tells the story (and answers my title question) of how well she guided us
through the street of Barcelona.
Why not join in with our 3rd and final challenge for the month of August
and make sure you
so we can pop over and leave some love.

I may just have one more layout to show you this month.
I'm on a roll!!!!

What Happens When the Computer Is Broken....

...you SCRAP!!!!

Yep, that's what happened!
I haven't scrapped at home for a fair few months but while the computer was restoring
(after installing an update that interfered with my Cameo software!!!)
- and after clearing out the fridge and doing the hoovering -
what else could a girl do?

This month I was determined to use up my Counterfeit Kit
(yes, it was small but it's a start!)

I wanted to get back into joining in with Sue's Sketch Challenge
- hope over and take a look and going in -
and although it's a very loose fit I can see
the similarities :)

I turned the sketch 90 degrees clockwise.
Can you see those loose similarities?

A very simple layout using my forged background paper.
I think I may need to make more of that!!!

Summer Snap!

Don't you just love a treasure hunt - scrapbookers call photos "treasure" right?

UKScrappers are holding a Summer Snap! Challenge
and during our little break in Barcelona
I took up the challenge.
Here is what I found...

1 vapour trails or clouds
We're on our way to Barcelona
2 a horse drawn vehicle
Nearly missed this one - luckily my girl had read my list and shouted at me to snap the moment!

3 flowers in bloom
There were too many photos in my album of beautiful flowers but I think this one has to be my favourite

4 a summer job in the garden
This guy was so busy digging the garden as we strolled through Parc Guell

5 something typifying your holiday destination,
or your home town if you are planning a stay cation
Well you're not going to get Boris Barcelona Bikes anywhere else!

6 hats
were everywhere!

7 ice cream
Mmmmmm

8 kites or balloons

9 bubbles
I have never seen such big bubbles!

10 ducks, swans or seabirds

11 summer sunrise or sunset
My phone camera kept on steaming up in the heat but managed to capture a slight sunset
whilst waiting for the fountains to start

12 eating al fresco
That was a very messy nectarine

13 somewhere you would only visit when the sun shines
Beautiful beach which I probably would also visit if the sun wasn't shining but not in these clothes!

14 flags or bunting

15 summer shoes
Sock and sandals girlfriend!

16 fruit growing, in the garden, on a tree, or in the hedgerow
Olives (yuk!)
17 water
Stunning water show at Font Màgica de Montjuïc

18 umbrellas
I love how they displayed their earrings on these brollies

19 glasses

20 fete, fair or festival
Such a great afternoon at Barcelona Pride

and ME!
Well a bit of me!

So there we have it, all 20 photos on the list taken over a 5 day period.

Thank you Alison and Sue for taking the time to keep us busy over the Summer.

Did You Guess...?

...and did you get it right?

In my Counterfeit Kit reveal post on Monday, I asked you to guess
how many forgeries there were in my kit.

Before I reveal the answer and if you want to guess,
why not nip back and have a look HERE

So which of these did I forge?

Here is my first forgery.

This was created using vinyl which I cut out on my trusty machine
and stuck onto plain kraft card stock
Next up and again I just die cut some stars
(hearts or circles or anything could be used instead)
and placed on my 12x12 kraft.
I haven't stuck them down yet though as I may want a different shape!
My next attempt (and my least favourite)
was using a stencil and a black pen...

I think I'll be turning that one over to just use the white on the other side!

One I didn't show in my kit was this one...
simply don with an old rub on set that I found whilst hunting for something else!

The next forgery was the map and Spanish words.
I knew that I had ordered photos of my recent trip to Barcelona
and I would be scrapping them using this kit
so what better than to make my own ephemera to suit!
The map is adapted from a Silhouette file I bought and the words
were created and cut to suit a layout I know I will be scrapping!
For those of you with trusty machines, I don't know about you but
I love to cut around my shapes using the offset as I think it gives the final look
a bit more depth.
If you don't have a trusty machine, why not play around with your fonts
in Word and cut out by hand?

My final forgery is the bag and I will try to explain how I made mine
using a piece of sample wallpaper from the DIY store!

(Did you spot my numbering mistake?)

The answer? 6 forgeries but probably only 5 that you could see!

So there we go, simple ways to forge some of those kit items.
Will you have a go?
Link Up if you do!

Time Flies When You're Having Fun

I can't believe this is my third month of being back
with the Counterfeit Team.
"Time flies when you're having fun" as they say!

This month our inspiration kit is from Germany and is the
March 2016 Kit by The Papier Werkstatt.
When I saw this kit for the first time
I was quite worried about how small and compact it was
but soon realised how nice it was that I could put more time
into forging and creating a kit that will (hopefully) be used up.

This month I am following on from
our Guest Designer, Karen Lai aka Pinky Crafter
Her vibrant and fun layouts always put a smile on my face
so pop backwards one if you've missed her kit.

My kit, as you've probably already gathered,
like the inspiration is small
and the side by side pictures will show my comparisons.
Can you guess how many forgeries have made their way
into my kit this month?
Don't forget to pop back on the 4th to see
if you got the correct answer!

So, my August Kit
"Zeit Vergeht"
(is that right Lisa?)
looks a bit like this...
Before you go I just wanted to show you this
lovely brown faux leather letter rack that I picked up in a
local charity shop for 50p.
I knew that (with a little added vinyl)
it would be perfect for keeping my Counterfeit Kit in on my craft desk.
You'll be seeing a lot more of it too!.

Don't forget to link up all of your August creations.
You can find Mr Linky and the full blog hop list over at the
but next on the list today is
that magical blue box of Leslie's ...
