The Extra Ones

Here are the extra ones I did over the weekend ...

This double page layout came about because I had so many pictures showing different quirky bits of Route 66 that it would've taken me a lifetime to scrap them all individually. I used Photoscape to create the photos then cut a few up to fit. I have used different methods to hightlight some of the photos as shown below.

I think this could be my favourite because I've made my own 12x12 by printing one of my own photos onto the paper. This page is so simple but I love the way it turned out.

This photo of my daughter was printed quite large so I didn't want too much on the page. I got told off when I got home because she said "Mum, it wasn't a treasure hunt" - oh well!

The next LO was for the first challenge of the weekend. The photos I had were taken in France and the colours matched perfectly.

"13 already?" is a simple LO (I like simple) but still tells the story.

I love the way this one turned out AND the fabulous prize I won for it too. I layered cropped photos of my daughter and created the cluster at the bottom to follow the sketch. I don't think I'll ever quite understand "sketches" though!

Thank you Rachel for the photography advice, I now also have a whiteboard for the garden!!!!

The Classes

Well here are my layouts from the weekend classes, I loved all the classes and can't really choose a favourite. I ws determined this year to finish all my layouts before I went home - and I did! There are particular things I like about each class which I explain under each picture.

Lou's Class
When I saw the picture for Lou's class I wasn't particularly keen but then she held up her LO and I thought "Wow, I like that!" It was very "faffy" but so worth the end result.

Helen's Class
The chevrons on this LO are great - I got them a bit wrong to begin with as I was copying Gemma instead of listening and looking (what did my teacher always tell me!) The glitter spots are great too although I'm still findig glitter even now!

Jen's Class
What a great idea this is. The floating picture is fab and I've already used the twine idea on another page since.

Tracey's Class
I've never been to a Tracy class before. I LOVE the boldness of this LO. The black lines makes everyting jump out off the page.

Ifa's Class
I really like the end result of this LO, the flags were a nightmare but patience endured (not like me at all) I deceide to use butterflies instaed of Ifa's birds as I thought they went better with my picture.

Claire's Class
The window on this LO is brilliant. I've never really known how to use distress inks but this one is such a good idea. Well, the flower! It looks gorgeous but such a pain in the ****. I think the result is quite stunning though!

The dreaded flower!

And now a BIG thankyou to you lovely ladies for the inspiration.

Sarah's Cards REtreat was wonderful as always and if you didn't go - why not???

I will share my layouts over the next few days but just wanted to show a few post retreat photos - see how much fun we have on a Sunday night!!!

All Kraft

Morning All (OK, few!)

I should be so busy today but I wanted to finish my layout for Sarah's Card March Challenge first. (Got to get my priorities right)
The theme this month is "work" so I dug out a few old photos of my Navy Days and got cracking.  I used nothing but Kraft card for this LO and made cogs, screws and washers to make it look mechanical.
I have journalled around the edge and this explains my reasons for my title "Man's World". After being refused so many apprenticeships because I was female I was determined to go out there and prove myself. I joined the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm and became an aircraft engineer on Sea Harrier Jump Jets and certainly did prove myself in a Man's World!!

Thanks for looking x

Man's World

Now then, off to get myself ready for Sarah's Cards retreat....

Finally got around to taking the photos!

Below are just a few photos of my homemade travel journal.

I found that I had colleted lots of travel papers which I knew I just would not use for layouts. Most were one sided so I just folded them in half. The double sided ones were cut at 6inches. I made some pockets for tickets etc and printed our itinerary out onto envelope, paper bags etc ready to slot in the right places. I've added a file folder at the front which contains a list of the things I need to do before we go. I tabbed each page with the date and bound it all together with book rings so pages could be easily added if I'd forgotten anything.

I love this journal which will be my bible during our 5 week USA roadtrip in the Summer.
The good thing about it is the fact there are hidden bits so hubby and daughter can't see some the surprises I have in store for them!

ME - in Blogbits!!!

Well how excited am I today?
After 2 and half hours in a doctor's surgery I find my layout in Blogbits on UKS

I've been a busy bee over the last few days making a journal for our next road trip and also organising a "Mother's Day" make for the Guides unit that my daughter attends. I'm in charge tonight!
27 kits made up and 1 spare (do I need more?)

Will post photos later...

Mother's Day

So, I was making a Mother's Day card and didn't have a stamp or digi for the front so, guess what? ....
I made one!

I have been lucky enough over the years to use other people's wonderful freebies so this is payback
Feel free to help yourself. I know it's not great but we all start somewhere.

Thanks for looking xx

JPEG FILE

And a ticket...

Thanks Mum JPEG

And the finished card cased from Splitcoaststamper mamamostamps. I loved this card, so simple yet so effective.

Which "Mum" gets this?

A little late but...

...it's been a busy weekend.

Saturday was Haslington Crop and was lovely to see everyone again after an absence of 6 months (I reall can't believe it's been that long) I finished my layout for SJ Crafts February challenge although the end result isn't what I'd hoped for.

Splashtastic

Having a whole day to scrap gave me time to create another 5 layouts (I don't do fussy!) usinganother kit from Sarah's Cards. I've still got enough left to make either one more layout or maybe a couple of cards.

The first is a 6x12 as I'm trying to get out of my 12x12 comfort zone. I quite like it!

Happy being silly

The next four layouts I'm back to 12x12 (please excuse the flash on some of them as I still haven't quite managed the art of photographing my creations)

Today I've been to Sincerely Yours which this ttime around was over two days. There was less crush and much more enjoyable. Spent a few pennies but also saved a few to buy the lovely Flower Shoppe cart for my cricut - can't wait for that to arrive.

Thanks for looking

Halfway...

...through a layout today but not likely to get it finished.

So looking forward to this weekend. Haslington Crop tomorrow which I haven't been able to get to for months and Sincerely Yours, Leigh on Sunday for some retail therapy (do I really need anything?!)

Will hopefully get a few pages cracked out tomorrow so, if there's anybody actually reading my ramblings, check back tomorrow...

Ribbon & Bling Challenge

OK, so now I've taken the first step to entering challenges, why not enter another!

Truly Madly Crafty have their February challenge going on and with so many entries already, I don't stand a chance but hey, it's the taking part that counts - isn't it?

I wanted to use this pircture of my daughter in colour but with my A3 printer colour cartridge playing up it ended up in B&W. I like the outcome. So here's my entry for the challenge...

I Love U

Item 1 ticked off my list - countdown...

Brilliant, that'll be one hell of a night. Elbow at Jodrell Bank will be totally awesome and will hoepfully get some good photos to scrap in the process.
